Denmark holds a unique strength in biosolutions, with the sector currently generating annual sales of DKK 35 billion, of which DKK 27 billion comes from exports (2020 figures). According to a 2021 analysis by the Ministry of Industry, Business, and Financial Affairs, the market for Danish biosolutions is expected to more than triple by 2030, with potential sales reaching over DKK 105 billion globally.

For decades, this sector has delivered sustainable solutions, from enzymes to bacterial cultures in foods. We can address several significant climate challenges with biological solutions, including reducing energy consumption, optimizing resource utilization, minimizing chemicals in society, and, importantly, reinventing the way we produce aromas for the growing global population. We need to rethink how we use our resources, and Denmark is well-positioned to take a leadership role in this field, potentially creating a significant export industry for the country.

We look forward to launching our sustainable aromas next year and being part of the solution. Danske Bank has been a strong supporter since we started, offering more than just banking services.
