Internship in Industrial Biotechnology
Join Evodia’s Mission to Revolutionize Sustainable Aromas!
Gain hands-on experience in metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, and fermentation.
Are you a Master’s student passionate about metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, or industrial biotechnology? Do you dream of turning cutting-edge science into real-world sustainable solutions? Evodia is offering an exciting master’s thesis project where you’ll contribute directly to next-generation yeast engineering for natural aroma production.
The Company
EvodiaBio is a Copenhagen-based start-up reinventing the production of natural aromas. Founded in 2021 based on research conducted by three of its co-founders at the University of Copenhagen, EvodiaBio is supported by, among others, the Novo Nordisk Foundation Bio Innovation Institute.
We are bringing Yops® to the market – a sustainable aroma solution designed to help breweries create great-tasting non-alcoholic beer. Our long-term ambition is to supply natural aromas for a wide range of food and beverage applications, and we are looking for talented people to join us on that journey
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a dedicated, international, and ambitious team where your work will make a real impact.
About the Project
We are pioneering precision fermentation to create eco-friendly alternatives to aroma hops for non-alcoholic beers. Our patented yeast strains produce Yops® – natural aroma blends that are revolutionizing the beverage industry.
Your role will support our ongoing research project aimed at:
- Engineering energy-efficient metabolic pathways in S. cerevisiae.
- Exploring new enzymatic pathways for monoterpene biosynthesis.
- Developing new precision fermentation strategies.
This internship is perfect for students seeking hands-on experience in strain optimization, fermentation technology, and industrial applications of synthetic biology.
Why It Matters
The demand for natural ingredients is growing rapidly. Non-alcoholic beers alone are projected to reach 15–20% of the global market by 2026. Your work could directly increase our product titer and impact real-world production and sustainability goals.
What You’ll Gain
- Mentorship from experts at EvodiaBio and the University of Copenhagen.
- Access to advanced lab infrastructure at our state-of-the-art facility in Rødovre.
- Hands-on experience with fermentation and strain construction.
- A chance to contribute to publications, patents, and industrial process improvements.
- Participation in sensory evaluations of newly developed products.
